Structures are representations of various buildings and collections of such, ranging from single forts up to large cities.

Structures convey the following benefits to varying degrees:

  • Supply production
  • Shelter from harsh weather
  • Defensive benefits

Types of structures

City

City is a collective term used for all population centers large and/or significant enough to warrant inclusion in the game. Each city is of a certain size, represented by a level ranging from 1 (small towns and trading stations) to 20 (large metropolises). Small cities, level 1-4 can also be referred to as towns.

They serve the following purposes:

  • Main production centers for various resources
  • Entrance point for new units

Additionally, many cities are strategic cities or even objective cities, and thereby impact victory points and winning the game

Often, you will find some of the other structures mentioned below within a city.

Harbor

Harbors are places where naval units can seek refuge and where land units easier can board naval transports. Each harbor is a certain size, represented by a level ranging from 1 to 10. They can be blockaded, which will reduce the production of the region where the harbor is located.

Depot

Depots serve primarily as accumulation and distribution points for supply.

Fort

Main article: Fort

Forts are primarily meant to give defenders defensive benefits in battle.

Stockade

The exact significance of stockades is unknown.

Indian village

The exact significance of Indian villages is unknown.
