Talk:Embargo on cotton

As far as I know, the cotton embargo was a disaster, costing the Confederacy a lot of badly-needed foreign exchange and achieving nothing except to antagonize foreigners whose help was also badly needed.

If you want to find some advantage in it, it is at least arguable that it may have raised national morale a bit, but I see no argument for awarding victory points. Is there evidence that it had any chance of causing foreign intervention in favour of the Confederacy? --Fremantle 07:29, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

This is the kind of thing that is much better asked at the forums; you're much more likely to get a debate going there :)
As for the article itself (Embargo on cotton), how would you liek to see it fit in with the other articles?

There was already a link in the main text to "embargo on cotton"; when I clicked it, it gave me an empty page and invited me to fill it, so I did. Anyone else clicking that link now will find the little page I created. That's how it fits in with the other articles.

I added my comment about the cotton embargo on this discussion page as a way of expressing my opinion about the game feature. I'd be quite interested to read a serious reply, but I don't think I have time at the moment to get into a debate about it. If I get no reply, I don't really mind. --Fremantle 20:22, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I just don't think that many people read the "discussion"-pages here, while I know that there are many people quite knowledgeable about the ACW at the AGEOD forums :) – Rafiki 06:31, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
