Stack
From AACWWiki
A stack is a container of units, represented on the map by a game piece with the portrait of its leader (if available) or the leading unit type (in case of independent forces).
There is no limit to how many units a stack can contain, but players will usually limit the number due to penalties applied when the stack size (or rather, the need for command) passes the number of command points generated for it.

In-game representation
The stack' game piece has several distinctive features in addition to the portrait, showing:
- Number of units (number of lights at the base). There is one light for every 3 units, regardless of size, i.e. a leader counts just the same as a division.[1]
- Entrenchment level (the form of the base)
- Stack type (Army stacks show a white star in silver oval on their top while corps stacks show a white diamond in wooden oval on top)
Additionally, the colour of the lights at the base indicates one of two things:[1]
- When the supply map layer is enabled, they show the supply level; red = bad, green = good.
- Other than that, it indicates a combination of overall health and cohesion for the stack; again, red = bad, green = good.
Special types of stacks
Some stacks belong to army organizations, providing some benefits that regular stacks don't have.
Army stacks
Main article: Army
Army stacks are a prerequisite for being able to create corps stacks (see below). They provide a number of benefits when it comes to command point generation, stacks' ability to mutually support each other in combat and coordinating movement between separate stacks.
Corps stacks
Main article: Corps
Corps will constitute your main fighting forces, providing a number of benefits when it comes to command point generation, stack commander stats, stacks' ability to mutually support each other in combat and coordinating movement between separate stacks.
